Using a cast-iron pan to cool down your pizza stone
Sometimes when your pizza oven stone gets too hot and you’ve just made your pizza, you will want to quickly reduce the temperature of the pizza stone. Check out this video. It shows how I use a cast-iron pan to quickly reduce the heat from the stone in 60 seconds.

Wood-fired pizza ovens can get hot very quickly, more so than a gas-fired pizza oven and sometimes your oven will get too hot too fast. In this particular cook, the oven raised the pizza stone to a temperature of over 550c in the centre. This was 100c too high for the pizza cook.


CAST IRON PAN
A cast-iron pan is an invaluable cooking accessory when you are cooking outdoors in both a wood-fired and gas-fired pizza oven.
They can withstand exceedingly high temperatures and are perfect for using in these high temperature pizza ovens.
They can be used to quickly reduce the heat of the pizza stone in your oven. Just place the cast-iron pan onto the stone, leave it there for 30 seconds to 1 minute if you are reducing the temperature of the stone by 100c.
30 seconds should be enough to lower the temperature by about 50 degrees centigrade.
But these pans have other uses too and make a worthwhile addition to your pizza cooking accessory range. They can be used to cook pan pizza, lasagne, casseroles, sizzling dishes and anything else that you fancy cooking in your pizza oven.
A great product that can also be used on your kitchen gas hob and in your kitchen oven. But best of all it’s a perfect standby pizza stone heat-reducing tool!
