Let’s get straight to it!  These are my top 10 tips:

TIP 1 – Start off cooking smaller pizza if you are new to pizza making.

Pizza Ovens

These tips should help you make wicked pizza in no time!

This helps you learn to manage and control your pizza, giving you space to learn the skills of rotating without burning your pizza.

You will then have lots of room to manouevre your pizza out of a potential burn situation!

TIP 2 – If you are struggling to stretch your pizza to 16″, use a wooden mini pizza roller. Also check out my video on how to make a 15 to 16″ pizza here.

TIP 3 – Give the pizza oven its full heat up time to ensure it’s very hot and ready for the pizza cook.

TIP 4 – Ensure the stone temperature is at around 430c at the centre of your pizza for the cook.  When it rotates, it will pick up the lower and higher stone temperatures ensuring an even cook at the end.

TIP 5 – Cleaning the oven is simple and just entails using a soft brush to take out the crumbs on the inner floor area when it’s cold.

TIP 6 – If you have to store your oven outside under cover, remove the stone after use and store the stone somewhere very dry.

TIP 7 – If you get caught out cooking in the rain ensure the oven is protected under a gazebo structure or equivalent as the shell of the oven shouldn’t get wet when it is hot.

TIP 8 – If you like fast pizza cooks you will need to cook your pizza on full flame and turn regularly.

TIP 9 – To achieve a soft pizza crust you will need to cook your pizza quickly on full flame; for a crunchy crust take your time with the pizza cook.  Your dough hydration also affects the crunch of your pizza.

TIP 10 – Turn your pizza stone over after you have finished cooking ready for the next time so that debris doesn’t build up on one side.

I’ve created a Pizza for Beginners YouTube playlist that gives some great tips to help you with your learning to cook pizza journey!
