There are only a few tools you will need to cook pizza in these ovens and they are listed below:

Pizza Tools

You only need to invest in a few key pizza cooking tools!

pizza peels

These are the pizza tools I use and why I chose them.

OONI KODA 12 PIZZA OVEN

I use the Eppicotispai Wooden Launch 12″ Peel which is lightweight and easy to use.  I add some semolina onto it just before moving the pizza onto the peel.  This peel comes in three sizes.

The Ooni Perforated 12″ Pizza Peel is super if you prefer not to turn your pizza in the oven but bring it out and turn then place it back into the oven.  The perforations allow the semolina or flour to drop away from the pizza base when you turn it.

I use a steel head  7″ Gozney Turning Pizza Peel.   It’s a great size for making pizza up to 12″ in the Ooni Koda 12 Pizza Oven.  If you are new to turning pizza, the more you practice the better you will get.  The Ooni Classic Peel is also a fantastic peel for beginners and you can use it to start off and you don’t need to turn the pizza inside the oven using it.

OONI KODA 16 PIZZA OVEN

I use the Eppicotispai Wooden Launch 15″ Peel and the Ooni 12″ Perforated Pizza Peel in the Ooni Koda 16 Pizza Oven.  However, the 14″ Peel is the bigger size peel normally used in the Koda 16.

ONLY USE A METAL PIZZA PEEL TO COOK YOUR PIZZA

LIGHTWEIGHT PIZZA PEELS ARE EASIER TO USE THAN HEAVY PEELS

For both ovens, to ensure your pizza stone reaches the right cooking temperature, it’s important that you have something to measure it with!  The laser thermometer does just that and it’s so easy to use.  I cannot cook pizza without one!  I use the Etekcity Laser Thermometer.

These pizza peels are a great investment for your pizza oven cooking and they are lightweight and easy to maintain.  The size of the pizza will determine which peel you should use to cook your pizza.  If the peel is too small you may struggle with rotating it in the early stages of the cook, before the pizza base firms up.  Once the pizza base has firmed up it is easier to rotate using a smaller peel.

I’ve created a Pizza for Beginners YouTube playlist that gives some great tips to help you with your learning to cook pizza journey!
