I’ve created a Pizza for Beginners YouTube playlist that gives some great tips to help your learning to cook pizza journey! Enjoy your Pizza Cooking!
This article will cover these areas:
- The fuel type
- The efficiency of the fuel
- The heat retention
- Ease of use
- The portability of the oven
The Ooni Koda Pizza Oven runs off gas only. It has a totally re-designed gas-burner compared to the Ooni 3 Pizza Oven and the burner is not removable. The gas burner is at the back of the oven and its linear design produces a narrower and gentler, wispier flame similar to a wood-flame.
However, a helpful improvement to this design would be a more clearly labelled flame range on the gas knob.
The Ooni Koda Pizza Oven takes about 25 minutes to heat up the stone to 430c with the flame on full strength.
The pizza stone is the same size as the stone in the Ooni 3. For the after-cook temperature, as with the Ooni 3 Pizza Oven, the climate and the strength of the flame you used to cook your pizza with will determine the temperature of your stone after your cook. When I heat it back up with a full flame it’s normally ready to use again in about 7 minutes.
The improved design of the gas burner makes this oven very easy to cook pizza with – great for beginner pizza makers. You can also cook your vegetables, meats and fish using a sizzler pan in this oven.
There is a small flame guard at the back however the flame is aimed toward the top of the oven. This allows the flame to gently touch the top and edge of the pizza crust without burning it.
The Ooni Koda Pizza Oven is very portable and light and is easy to carry around. The stone can be removed and there is no chimney. The three legs fold underneath the oven. A carrier bag/cover can also be purchased for the Ooni Koda.
The Ooni Koda Pizza Oven is suitable for both beginners and more advanced pizza cooks and is a very easy to use gas-fired pizza oven. It’s light and very well engineered with a beautifully shaped, coloured shell.
