Ooni Koda 12 Pizza Oven – 2 Years Later
I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I bought the Ooni Koda 12. I’ve learned so much, however, 2019 feels like such a long time ago after the year 2020! Check out the video here where I review the Ooni Koda 12 after cooking lots of pizza over 2 years.
This oven needs very little maintenance – it’s super easy to keep clean and it’s been through a lot of pizza cooking!
I have scratched the edge of the pizza opening with my metal pizza peels.
Most of these were created within the first month of owning the oven and they are minor – just marks and haven’t affected the performance of the oven in any way.
The outer modern shell feels like hard plastic and gets very hot and it still looks like new. I’ve left a greasy mark on there which can be removed very easily. Other than that, I just give it a quick dust to keep it clean.
Internally, the stone and the inside metal of the cooking area have not warped, changed, or been damaged in any way from the heat. I never touch the gas burner at the back and leave that area well alone.

To clean the inside of the oven, all I do is brush out the debris from the base of the oven – most of that is semolina, which falls at the front edge under the stone.
THE Ooni Koda 12 HAS CONTINUED TO PROVE ITSELF AS MY PIZZA WORKHORSE - IT'S BEEN THROUGH A LOT WITH ME AND STILL WORKS AND LOOKS LIKE NEW!
The gas burner still provides a good wispy flame and hasn’t changed. The ignition dial at the back works with one click and is still as responsive for the low, medium and high flames for your cook.

This oven has played a big part in helping me to learn to cook pizza. It’s been through a lot – a number of mishaps – but loads of very nice tasting pizza. An oven that’s helped me on my learning to cook pizza journey. It’s great for new pizza cooks as the flame is so easy to control and cook with.
I use the Ooni Koda 12 to cook pizza up to 10″ and the Ooni Koda 16 cooks my pizza that’s 11″ approx and bigger.
