Ooni Fyra 12 Pizza Oven – My Review One Year Later!
It’s been one year since I bought the Ooni Fyra 12! Check out my thoughts on the oven in this video here!
Chimney Attachment – This is very easy to attach and detach. You insert into the chimney hole and lock by twisting the chimney into the lock position.
Portable and Lightweight – This is a super oven to take camping as it’s lightweight and compact enough to store.
Wood Pellets – This oven can only be fuelled with wood pellets. You don’t need to use Ooni pellets. I tried out a number of value pellet brands before settling on the brand that I use. However, the Ooni pellets are great quality and provide a good strong flame.
The Door – This oven is best used with the door on whilst cooking the pizza. This is because the flame very often pulls backwards once the door is opened. I don’t use the small hole in the door. It’s not big enough to see the pizza but it does give you a glimpse of the flames at the back.
Stone Heat Management – The wood pellet flames can heat the stone super hot in a very short time. I use a cast-iron pan to reduce the stone temperature by a 100 degree celsius in 60 seconds.
Second Pizza Cook Temperature – It takes about 5 minutes with a full flame in the grate to re-heat the stone back up to the 430c middle stone cooking temperature.
Use a cast-iron pan to quickly reduce the temperature of your pizza stone.
No Gas Lighting Hole! – If my pellets go out I use a gas butane torch to re-light the pellets through the grate at the back. The Ooni 3 has a small hole on the side which was perfect for this task!
Pizza Crust Cook – The wood pellet flames give the pizza a perfect top and crust cook. The flames reach every area of the crust and provide a great all-round cook.
Enjoy your outdoor pizza oven cooking!
