This article covers the Top 10 Ooni Pro Pizza Oven Tips I feel would be useful whether you are new to making pizza or new to the wood-fired Ooni Pro Pizza Oven.
The Ooni Pro is one of my favourite wood-fired pizza ovens. I also loved to use the Delivita Wood Fired Oven. The UK, where I am based, has been through winter storm after storm and this has slowed my pizza cooking opportunities and my videos right down!
I've created a Pizza for Beginners YouTube playlist that gives some great tips to help your learning to cook pizza journey! Enjoy your Pizza Cooking!
Once the weather improves I will be bringing out the Ardore - can't wait to use them.
My Top 10 Pizza Oven Tips - Ooni Pro Wood-Fired Pizza Oven!
Hello! Welcome to our learning to cook pizza journey! Here are my top 10 tips I think would be useful for new pizza cooks using the wood-fired Ooni Pro Pizza Oven. I hope you find them helpful and please comment below if you would like more information on each tip and why I chose these tips. These wood-fuel tips are from my experience of learning to cook pizza from scratch on this YouTube channel. I don't use the gas burner with the Pro so some of these tips will not apply to using gas e.g. keeping the door on to heat up the oven. For the gas fuel the door would not be on.OONI US SHOP HERE:
The main tips that I feel would be useful are:
- Ensure that the oven stone is heated to 430c in the middle of the oven where the stones meet. This will ensure your pizza won't burn when it rotates around and touches the different temperatures of the stone. The stone will be hotter at the top by the flame and cooler by the pizza door. Heating the oven to 430c in the middle will ensure the pizza base is given an even bake all around. Remember to rotate the pizza a quarter after 15-20 seconds. If your pizza base is burning you will see smoke and you may also smell it burn!
- If your pizza stone gets too hot then use a cast-iron pan to bring the temperature down. The pan will quickly reduce the stone temperature by 100c in about a minute or two.
- If you store your Ooni Pro outside then remember to remove your pizza stones after the cook and store them somewhere dry.
- With the wood-fuel, you will need to keep the pizza door on with the glass front during the time the oven heats up for your cook.
