Cooking Home-Made Garlic Bread in a Wood Fired Pizza Oven.
Pizza Ovens can cook all sorts of dishes and one of my favourite other than pizza is garlic bread! Check out the video here where I make and cook garlic bread in the wood-fired Ooni Karu 12 Pizza Oven!
Garlic Bread is amazing cooked at any time of the day – even for Breakfast!
Once you have the dough made and ready, just stretch or roll out the dough into a long oval shape as shown in the video above.
Don’t stretch out the dough too thin, a thickness of about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch is fine. I used a 200g dough ball.
For the toppings, add two or three large tablespoons of butter with mashed fresh garlic.
How much garlic you add is totally up to you!
Add some herbs – fresh or dried. I used dried herbs for this mix. Mix into the garlic and butter.
Mix them all together and spread over your dough evenly.
You can add a sprinkle of salt if you so wish.
Cook the garlic bread in the same way you cook your pizza, rotating when needed.
The wood-fire is set up in the Pizza Oven in the same way too. The oven needs to be hot and the stone needs to be 430c in the centre. You will need less of a flame though.
I used more lumpwood charcoal than wood to reduce the flame size. This will ensure you retain the heat in the oven but with less flame.
I’ve created a Pizza for Beginners YouTube playlist that gives some great tips to help you with your learning to cook pizza journey!
