I compare the differences between the Ooni Koda 12 and Ooni Koda 16 Pizza Ovens. Ā These are my independent, honest reviews and tips. Ā Check out my video on YouTube!

Many gas-fired pizza ovens are now being sold with the option of using a wood burner too. Ā However, these ovens – the Koda 12 and Koda 16 are gas-fired pizza ovens only.

So let’s go through the differences between the Koda 12 and Koda 16 pizza ovens:

  • SIZE

The most obvious difference Ā – the Koda 12 can cook pizza up to 12 inches and the Koda 16 takes pizza up to 16 inches. Ā The Koda 16 is taller and wider than the Koda 12.

  • GAS BURNER

The Ooni Koda 12 has a linear gas burner that sits all along the back of the oven. Ā The burner produces wispy flames and provides efficient flame and heat coverage for cooking and heating up the oven.

The Ooni Koda 16 has a larger L-Shaped burner that stretches all across the back of the oven in the same way as the 12, but also has a left return on the side of the oven.

This provides the Koda 16 with a good balance of flames and heat that can reach the stone at the front of the pizza oven.

  • WEIGHT AND PORTABILITY

The Koda 12 is light and easy to carry, particularly without the stone inside. Ā The legs fold down and it’s easy to store.

The Koda 16 is heavier as the oven is a lot bigger however, with the stone removed the oven is manageable and can be carried Ā – it’s also easy to store and the legs fold down.

GAS FIRED PIZZA OVENS HEAT THE OVEN UP IN ABOUT 15 TO 30 MINUTES

STRUCTURE

Both ovens are made from similar materials – a powder-coated grey outer shell that withstands high heat without discolouration. Ā The Koda 12 outer shell looks very much the same as it did out of the box after more than 2 years of use. Ā These ovens are easy to clean and take care of.

Overall, I’m impressed with the quality and performance of these ovens and I enjoy using them both. Ā Recently, I’ve leaned toward cooking in the Koda 16 more due to its size and the brightness and visibility in the oven when cooking. Ā However, they both cook super pizza!
